DEPARTMENTS
Educational Policy
The mission of our college is to train young women to be global leaders through quality Christian-based education. Enrollment is just under eight hundred female students in two departments: the Department of English and the Department of Early Childhood Education. The Department of English provides students with a balance of language skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. The Department of Early Childhood Education equips students with the tools of practical knowledge in early childhood education through small-sized classes/seminars. There is a one-year advanced course in both departments, with enrollment totaling about one hundred-eighty students.
The Department of English
St. Margaret’s Junior College provides an excellent environment for studying. Through unique programs emphasizing the English language and liberal arts, St. Margaret’s helps each student develop sound character, intellectual growth and curiosity. Students also develop a strong sense of personal and social responsibility through facing various challenges during their life at St. Margaret’s. Our goal is to help students find their way toward fulfilling futures.
The Department of Early Childhood Education
The Department of Early Childhood Education offers a program for students who are interested in working with children who range in age from newborns to six years old, and with the children's families. Students are able to obtain a license as a pre-school/kindergarten teacher and/or become a certified caretaker by fulfilling required courses. The program is designed to help students to be active learners and to become well-prepared professionals who are able to meet the needs of children in their communities and serve for child welfare.
Advanced Courses
These courses are special one-year programs designed to allow students to learn more about their own field. Students may apply for advanced classes after they obtain an associate's degree(two years). Classes are small-sized seminars. Students are required to research papers independently. In addition, participating in discussions during class is highly important.
The Department of Early Childhood Education provides a three-year program in caretaking. The Department of English provides an Intensive English program. Students can write a graduation thesis based on original research and share their reseach findings through a formal presentation held in February.
